As the temperatures rise and the sun shines brighter, it’s time to update Zoey’s closet with some fresh and stylish summer clothes for girls. She has grown, and nothing from last season fits, so we decided to create a girls summer capsule closet just for her. We have picked out some pieces, and they have just arrived, so I thought I’d share our favorite girls’ summer clothes to help guide you in your shopping. Our theme for Zoey’s closet was mostly neutrals, with a pop of pink.
Tops
Summer tops for girls are so much fun. We picked out 5 different tops that are perfect for a girl’s summer capsule closet. My favorite find was this layered mesh t-shirt that can be worn as pictured, as a swim cover-up (mesh top) or as just a tank top.
I also grabbed a couple of racer back tank tops for Zoey’s summer closet. We picked a striped black and white crochet top. I love the chunky knit.
I also got a basic black racer back crop top, which comes in three other colors.
As a little bit of a fancier summer top for girls, I got her this puffed sleeve lace crop top, with delicate embroidery detailing, a ruched bodice, and buttons up the front.
Lastly, we grabbed her this adorable asymmetrical textured gingham top with a bow for a pop of pink in her girls’ summer closet.
Graphic Tees
We skipped the graphic tees on this shopping trip, but Zara has so many cute graphic tees for summer that I had to share. Graphic tees are such a fun and playful addition to your girls’ summer capsule closet. Choose tees with cute and quirky designs that reflect your little one’s personality, such as animals, unicorns, or funny quotes. Pair them with denim shorts, skirts, or leggings for an effortless and comfortable summer outfit. I tried to grab the below t-shirt for Zoey but it was sold out when I did my order. It is back in stock now!
This season Zara has the cutest Nirvana crop top for girls. It is such a fun update to the trendy oversized Nirvana tee of last season.
Denim Shorts
Denim shorts are a versatile piece of clothing that every girl needs in her summer wardrobe. We picked shorts with stretch for added comfort and ease of movement during summer play. We grabbed her the below shorts in pink and cream. She really likes to wear the pink ones with the gingham top I linked above.
I also love these stripe denim shorts! Zoey loves any shorts that are loose, stretchy, and comfy. She is an active girl and her girls’ summer capsule closet reflects that.
Skorts + Skirts
Skirts are perfect for those hot summer days when you want to stay cool and comfortable while still looking stylish. Choose skirts in lightweight and breathable fabrics like cotton or rayon. We grabbed Zoey this charcoal skort, which also comes in off white.
This white linen skirt is another one we chose. Now that she is a little older, I’m getting braver with adding white to her wardrobe. It also comes in pink and green.
Pants
Even though it’s summer, evenings can still get cool, especially near the beach or in the mountains. A pair of pants is a handy addition to your girls’ summer capsule closet. Look for wide leg pants made of lightweight materials like denim or cotton, like this pair we picked for Zoey:
Swimsuits
No summer wardrobe is complete without a swimsuit. Look for swimsuits that are not only cute but also provide adequate sun protection. Choose swimsuits with UPF fabric. One-piece swimsuits with fun patterns, ruffles, or cutouts are a great option for girls. I picked this adorable yellow one-piece swimsuit for Zoey. I love the side cutouts.
This iridescent pink swimsuit is Zoey’s style 100000% – so I grabbed it for her as a surprise. She found an excuse to wear it the day we got the box; she was so excited about the shimmery pink material.
There are also some cute two-piece options for girls that I tried to convince Zoey on, but she hates two-pieces for swimming. It’s so funny to me because I wasn’t allowed to wear a two-piece, and I wanted to… She is allowed, and hates them. Pajamas + Sets
For Zoey’s summer PJs, I specifically chose sets that could double as play clothes if needed. I am aiming for a minimalist closet, and dual-purpose items help achieve that. I got her this set in yellow, cream, and charcoal. I also got the same for her brothers summer capsule closet.

Sandals
Sandals are a must-have footwear for summer. We looked for sandals with comfortable and supportive soles to keep Zoey’s feet happy during all her summer adventures. This cream pair of slides is the perfect blend of style and comfort, and will go with almost any outfit. It comes in 4 other colors too.
Accessories
Complete your girls’ summer wardrobe with some fun accessories. Sunglasses are not only a stylish accessory but also provide essential eye protection from the sun’s harmful UV rays. Look for sunglasses with UV400 lenses for maximum sun protection. This transparent pink visor is just killing me, it is so freaking cute, and I am dying over this set of four girls claw clips!
We grabbed these shimmer socks for Zoey as a fun and unique statement accessory. She wears them with her cream slides and it is the cutest.
