This year, as part of my minimalist lifestyle journey, I decided to create a boys’ summer capsule wardrobe for my son while ordering his summer clothes. With three kids, laundry can be overwhelming, and decluttering their closets has brought a sense of cleanliness and peace to our lives. I aimed for a capsule-like wardrobe for my son, with items that can be mixed and matched. Here’s what I picked for his summer wardrobe:
PJ Sets
I chose PJ sets that can also double as play clothes for my boys summer capsule wardrobe, as my son often wants to be comfortable when changing out of his school uniform. These three sets can be worn as PJs or mixed and matched with other items in his wardrobe. I also repurposed some sweat suit sets as PJs to have a week’s worth of PJs in total. The below set also comes in two other colors that you can shop here.
T-Shirts
I opted for basic t-shirts in neutral colors that can easily match with everything. I got him a taupe brown t-shirt (far left). It’s only $9.90 and comes in nine colors.
Then I grabbed a three pack of basic t-shirts for $22. This set also comes in black, white and blue.
I also got him this orange t-shirt in orange as a non-neutral color option. It adds a little pop of brightness to his boys summer capsule wardrobe.
Shorts + Pants
Since it’s summer, I focused on shorts. I got him denim cargo shorts in two colors.
Then I grabbed some plush shorts in ecru. They come in nine colors.
Next I picked plush garment dyed shorts in clay.
The last pair of shorts I grabbed was this tan straight denim pair:
For pants, I chose cargo pants in black and blue (here), and tan (here).
Socks + Underwear
I grabbed him this set of socks.
I grabbed him three sets of these underwear. Of course underwear don’t NEED to match the capsule wardrobe, but the fact that they do makes me very happy.
Shoes
I got him a pair of slides in a cute design that comes in four colors, which I hope will last him all summer. My kids generally have a minimalist shoe collection with a few essential pairs.
Swim
I didn’t grab him any new swim shorts this season, but I found some great options to complete my boys’ summer capsule wardrobe. Here are the options I found (left to right, top to bottom): one, two, three, four.
And that is my boys summer capsule wardrobe for my son! Head to my toddler girls’ capsule closet next.
