Top 10 Places to Visit in Toronto Canada

My family and I LOVE to visit Toronto, Canada. It is just a few hours from where we live and perfect for a weekend getaway. No matter the season, we always find so much to do there. Here are our top 10 favorite places to visit in Toronto Canada.

1. The CN Tower

We have visited the CN Tower many times! We love it because it’s one of the most significant landmarks in Canada, and one of the seven world wonders. The CN Towers is a 1815.4 ft tall building that was built between 1973 and 1976 by Canadian’s railway company.

The CN has remained the tallest building in the world for nearly 30 years. At the top of this building is the revolving 360 Restaurant; a world-class dining place that seats 113 floors (351 meters) above the ground. How cool is that?!

We took a glass elevator up to this dining place, with a floor made of 2.5 inches glass. From the restaurant, you will have the opportunity to observe the whole Toronto city through the glass walls.

Lastly, if you love adventure, there is a hands-free edge walk that is 1.5 meters wide. But, this is not for the faint-hearted. I would NEVER be able to do this, Kris would love to though. This is an adrenaline-inducing activity! It is really a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

2. Ripley’s Believe it or Not Aquarium

We love visiting this place! It is an amazing underwater life experience. My kids LOVE seeing all the fish, our favorite spot is the shark tunnel, a tube that you can walk through that goes directly under the shark tank. If you had a chance to meet with a shark face to face, what kind of reaction would you have? Ripley’s Aquarium is among the top tourist destinations in Toronto especially those looking for exciting family travel holidays. My kids are always asking when we can go back to visit this place.

3. Casa Loma

Casa Loma is a very  significant place to visit in Toronto, Canada. It is a medieval Castle, constructed in the 20th Century by Sir Henry Pellant, a multi-millionaire who had always wished to live in a Castle.

Made up of 98 rooms, Casa Loma is now a museum that attracts not only tourists, but also Travel bloggers (like me). Within the castle, there are close to 800 ft of tunnels leading to carriage/stable houses, decorated suites, secret passages, towers, and many other really cool places.

As if that wasn’t enough to see; around the Castle is a five acre garden, made of beautiful flowers, fountains, and sculptures. Note: you do not need a tour guide to take you around the flower garden, all you need is to plug in some headphones, and a digital audio guide will help you roam around the castle.

The last time we visited Casa Loma was when Zoey was just a baby! It is definitely on our list of places to stop by on our next trip so we can show it to Zander, and Violet too.

4. Toronto Island

Only ten minutes outside the city of Toronto, you will get to an entirely different world that offers an enticing contrast to the regular city life. When we decide to take a family trip, a weekend away from home or summer holiday, we always have Toronto Island among our top places to visit list.

After a short ferry ride, we get to this island with a calm vibe, it reminds me of island life growing up! Besides bikes, paddle boats, rollerblades, and ponies there is no other transport mode on this cute island.

Toronto Island is a really family friendly tourist spot, and definitely should be on your list of must-see places if you are making a trip to Toronto.

5. The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO)

AGO is one of the largest art-filled museums in North America. It is  home to 90,000 pieces of art. As a family, we enjoy this place because it is home to almost all Canadian art collections, African art, an extensive collection of European art, and even has art dating all the way back to the baroque and Renaissance eras.

Even the building itself is a work of art! I always think of my mom when we visit this place since she is an artist, and loves art museums SO much.

6. The Royal Ontario Museum

The Royal Ontario Museum is one destination loved by old and young. Located in the downtown region of Toronto, this museum is a great stop to learn about  history ranging from dinosaurs, biodiversity and ancient ways in which people dressed. This museum offers interactive and hands-on experiences that are great learning tools for kids and adults.

7. Distillery District

Any time I am planning for a shopping outing, Distillery district is one place that I have to stop for a  shopping spree. Distillery district is a pedestrian-only prehistoric shopping center that is a few minute’s walk from downtown of Toronto.

This town is made up of restored old buildings which were used as Gooderman & Worts whiskey center for distillation. If you visit this place, there are 80+ eateries, retail shops, and boutiques to enjoy. It is a super cute place to stop, and get pictures as well.

For entertainment lovers, this town has many entertainment and art gallery centers that are used to host music festivals and art shows all year round.

8. The St. Lawrence Market

At the heart of Toronto’s old district (which is a historic center), sits one of the North America best foodie destinations: The St. Lawrence Market. Since 1803 when this shopping complex was built, it has evolved a lot, but has remained relevant as an authentic market for farmers.

Visit this place, and you will have the opportunity to enjoy different fresh produces, and cheese from vendors who have sold such produce for two centuries now. There are more than 120 shops that sell various products ranging from food, clothing, jewelry, souvenirs, and many others.

9. High Park

When planning for family travel, High Park should be one of the places to visit in Toronto Canada. This is among the largest parks within Toronto! It has a zoo, hiking trails, and a children playground. This is another favorite spot for my kids.

One of the most interesting things to see is the waterfront with a Grenadier pond harboring ducks and other marine living creatures. If you love more exciting outdoor activities, there are tennis courts, swimming pools, and a baseball diamond for you as well.

10. Toronto Eaton Centre

Easton Center is another favorite spot for us to stop and shop in Toronto. This shopping mall consists of more than 235 stores and restaurants. We usually get a hotel really close to Eaton Centre so we can walk there and enjoy everything it has to offer any day we don’t feel up to more intense travel and exploring.

They also often have live performances here! There is also a little splash pad for the kids to play in in the summer, so bring a bathing suit or change of clothes for your little one.
