We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate. It was easily my favorite vacation spot to date, and there are so many reasons why. Today I wanted to share just a few of those with you. If you are planning a trip to Orlando and trying to decide where to stay, here is my review of the Omni Orlando at Championsgate.
Reasons to Stay at Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate
1. If you like a good pool…
There are like 100 pools at Omni Orlando. And every single one of them is amazing. Ok there aren’t 100, but I counted 5 pools, 4 water slides, 3 hot tubs, 2 splash fountains for the kids, and 1 lazy river. Because there are so many spots to play in the sun, none of them ever got too busy. Our favorite pool was the one by the Sunset Villa’s where we stayed. If you stay in the main resort it is a beautiful, 5 minute walk away, but it was just steps outside of our room. I liked it because it felt like a hidden spot, our own little oasis.
The kids favorite spot was the kids pool, which had a gradual beach edge, with fountains, for Violet to splash in. It also had three slides, one that parents can go down with kids. That was great for us because Zander was too nervous to try the slide himself at first, but after going down with us a few times he was confident enough to take a solo slide! We had a season pass to a local water park here and could not convince him to go down one water slide alllllll season long, but he loved the Omni Orlando slides. The kids also loved the wave pool. It had a pile of inflatable tubes next to it, which were fun to play with in the waves!
Pro traveler tip: If you arrive early and your room isn’t ready you can use the pool facilities! Do a pre-check in at the front desk, leave your luggage there, and go play in the sun.
2. The food!!
There are several food options at the Omni Orlando Resort at Championsgate, and you can’t go wrong with any of them. My top recommendation would be to try the breakfast buffet at Trevi’s. It was TO DIE FOR. I am dreaming of it. I would go back and stay at the Omni Championsgate just for that breakfast buffet. There are nine different options total for fine dining and drinking at Omni Championsgate. Check out all the options here. There are also in room dining options, and as the cherry on top, you can have a morning beverage delivered to your door every morning during your stay!
Another food option at the Omni Orlando is poolside dining. If you rent a cabana you will discover a fridge stocked with drinks and cold fresh fruit, you also get two virgin beverages delivered to your cabana. Ours were mango and raspberry flavored. So good. You don’t have to rent a cabana to access poolside dining. You can order food right to your sun chair lounger!
Omni spoiled us with food during our stay. They had a treasure chest filled with chocolate goodies delivered to our room. The kids were in heaven unloading that. Zander somehow snuck the whole chest into a corner of the room without anyone noticing and enjoyed quite a few chocolates himself before he got caught. When my sister caught him he quickly stuffed a half eaten chocolate back in the chest, bite side down, and with a chocolate covered face told us he didn’t eat any of it. I love kids haha. They also gave us a beautiful selection of fine chocolates and macaroons. Mmmmm…. I am craving more.
3. Spacious rooms
As our family grows, hotel rooms seem to get smaller and smaller. Three kids and two adults are a lot to fit in a room. The rooms at the Omni are very spacious, and perfect for our family. We had two rooms, a suite and a king room, but we could have fit our whole family in one room! One of our rooms felt about the size of two and a half regular hotel rooms. The king room included a large bathroom with a walk in shower, king bed, balcony, a desk, sitting area, mini fridge etc. We had two plush robes hanging in our closet. I basically lived in mine while we were in our room.
The suite had two queen beds, a separate living area with a sectional and pull out bed, a kitchen table, two TV’s (one in the sitting room, and one by the beds), a large bathroom and bath, a mini fridge and more. Our rooms were connecting, which worked out really well so we could have kids napping in one room, and hang out in the other room. The beds were SO comfortable. Unlike most hotel rooms, where I wake up with a sore back, I woke up feeling well rested and free of aches and pains.
Hint: If you are traveling with a baby who sleeps in a crib, call ahead and let them know you need one. This is the first time we have ever arrived at a hotel and had the crib waiting for us in our room! We always call ahead at every hotel we stay at, and no ones has ever remembered to deliver it till an hour or so after we arrive. This may seem like a small thing, but after a day of traveling, kids NEED naps. It makes all the difference to have the bed there waiting and not have to wait forever.
4. Hospitality
From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed at the Omni at Championsgate. Right when we drove up we were greeted happily, and directed to the check in. Before we got inside a friendly gentleman stopped us and let the kids each choose a few toys from a cute pirate chest. While I was checking in another worker brought each of the kids backpacks full of goodies. Everywhere we walked around the resort people greeted us with friendly hello’s, and made sure we were comfortable and enjoying our stay. Everywhere we went there was ice cold water and fruit essence water available for free. You can just tell they put a lot of thought into all the details of this resort, to make sure you enjoy your stay 100%. That really makes a difference.
5. Amenities
Aside from the pool, the Omni has a whole plethora of other amenities. Here are just a few of my favorites:
– Shopping! There are quite a few cute little shops to explore. From formal wear, to gifts, and souvenirs, there are a lot of treasures to find.
– Golf. If you like golfing this place will be your heaven. The golf course is stunning. I spent every evening staring out at it, wishing I could golf. It was so beautiful, it almost convinced me to take up golf as a hobby.
– Spa… I didn’t get a chance to try the spa while we were there, but it looked so inviting. We will definitely stop by the spa and get a couples massage during our next stay.
– Fitness centers! Yup, that is plural! There are multiple fitness centers for you to choose from and use while you are staying at the Omni. While I didn’t try them myself, my assistant Amber did, and she said they were GREAT.
Overall there were just so many reasons we loved staying at the Omni Orlando at Championsgate. I really can’t think of one negative thing… I tried really hard to think of something that could have been improved about our stay, because I want to give an honest and comprehensive review, but nothing came to mind… It was just a wonderful retreat.
