Kris and I have become experts on budget travel and learning to fit travel into a tight schedule. The main thing we do is work hard to discover places within a few hours driving distance that are interesting and unique. This helps dull my traveling itch and saves us time and money. This weekend we decided to check out Sissons’ Pumpkin Patch.
Now that the world is starting to become a cold place I have to pack and dress a little differently. The first thing on my list this fall was finding the best waterproof boots for travel. I think I found the perfect pair and was really excited to give them a test run at the pumpkin patch! Here are the reasons I love the SOREL boots I chose, as well as a few things to look for when you are trying to find the best waterproof boots for travel this season.
Look For Boots That Are Lightweight
If you are looking for the best waterproof boots for travel you are going to want to go with something easy to pack and carry. Tall gum boots are adorable for the right occasion, but super inconvenient to lug around in a suitcase. That was the first thing that drew me to these SOREL Out ‘N About Boots from Zappos. Since they are ankle booties they take up hardly any space, making them the perfect boots for travel.
Choose Neutral Colors
You probably won’t want to pack a pair of boots for every outfit. Make more room in your suitcase by choosing a neutral colored pair of boots that will go with everything.
Pay Special Attention To Durability
Travel usually involves a TON of walking .If you are looking for the best waterproof boots for travel definitely choose something durable. A safe bet is to go with reputable brands like SOREL where you know you are definitely purchasing quality. A pair of boots that will last you a few years definitely compensates for a higher price tag. Although the Out N’ About boots are actually quite a steal when it comes to price.
Assume They Aren’t Waterproof
If the boots don’t explicitly say they are waterproof, assume they aren’t. I have made the mistake of thinking a pair of boots that looked waterproof would work in the weather. I was wrong! There is nothing worse than having water leak into your shoes while you are out for the day and have no way to change them…
When Ordering Online Remember To…
Remember to choose a website that allows returns if you are ordering shoes online. I love Zappos for this because you can order two or three sizes of the same shoe, keep the pair that fits best and send back the other ones with free return shipping. Since you obviously can’t try on when you are online shopping, I never buy online without knowing I can return it. I also love that Zappos has super fast and free shipping, perfect for if you need a pair of waterproof boots for travel last minute!
What do you look for in a pair of waterproof boots for travel?

Thanks so much!!! We had a blast 🙂
I am a sucker for those blue ones. I would Make them go with everything. I have a couple tall rubber boots but rubber is fine for a short while but if you are walking about they really aren’t the best thing. I love that these have leather uppers.
So fun! And cute boots! You have been rockin’ the cute boots lately!
