Kris said to Zoey (while looking at Zoey), “I love you Zoey.” Violet, who was sitting nearby, replied, “I love you too daddy! But I’m not Zoey, I’m Violet.”
Kris wasn’t looking at Violet, or even in her direction, and he didn’t say her name. But he said I love you, and she assumed the message was for her. She said her reply in the most matter of fact way, without a second thought.
